ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Shin-Lu (Mark) Liu
Mark Liu is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the State of Washington. He was born and raised in Taiwan and later came to the United States to pursue graduate studies in Construction Engineering and Management. He did not expect that this foreign land would become his home for nearly 50 years — a place where he married, raised his children, and built his career.
Before the age of 50, his professional work focused mainly on real estate construction, development, and related businesses. Gradually, however, he lost interest in that field. Over a period of about five years, while struggling to search for a more meaningful life, he decided to return to school — this time in a completely different discipline: psychological counseling. Mark earned his M.A. degree in Couple, Child, and Family Therapy, completing three years of academic work and internship training. Afterward, he engaged in two additional years of post-graduate clinical practice before becoming a licensed psychotherapist in the State of Washington.
This dramatic shift from real estate to counseling occurred for many complex reasons. The transition was deeply enriching and provided him with abundant life experience as he encountered and integrated both crises and opportunities along the way. Through this journey, he has come to know himself more fully in the larger context of knowing God.
He has two adult children. His wife, to whom he was married for 27 years, passed away several years ago. The establishment of the Foundation reflects his deep love and remembrance of her, as well as his continuing intimacy with God.
